ok all seems fine now, thanks for your efforts. the minimum 10 posts is a pretty fair system, and probably ensures the spammers go somewhere else ..

You're welcome. It's annoying for me as well. Though I have to say I get a slight feeling of satisfaction deleting spammers and their posts.

Yes it's a good idea, there have been a large number around recently.

Cheers.

Our latest member predicts trouble already :
"Welcome to our newest member, ForumTeam"

You just know what they are up to....
Can you excluded names from being registered? Or maybe a staffmember should go thru the names that could be abused and register them for the forum. Just my 2 cents.

I weed out suspect names before they even get any posting rights, that would include a name like that. It will show up as a new member but until I or Zarroun give the green light, they're not a member.

Chris, every post with a URL in it is treated this way by the anti-spam system. That includes posts that the moderators make. Unfortunately not something we can fine-tune so it only happens to new posters. As a result I need to go in every day and verify posts that are treated in this manner, including my own. Annoying, but again, all in the fight against spam.

No need to get angry.

Not Angry Kiwi, bemused is what I am ? ,I have made several posts this week and all have come as soon as I submit ,this is the first post to which it has happened . You say it only happens to new posters, that is strange because I have submitted several posts on Rich thread and they appeared as soon as I push submit. On several recent posts I have been the only member on line according to (who,s online) and they just pop right up.

Hey Chris,

My point was that it does NOT only happen to new posters. You are obviously a veteran here with so many posts. In actual fact, I had to go into the control panel to verify my own post just now. It probably looks for keywords as well, not just URLs. It's all black magic mumbo jumbo

All this nonsense because of people selling shite nobody wants, you know, Viagra, Enlargements, Free Degrees, etc.

Damn all spammers, damn them all to hell !
