Piolts and Crew

What do you guys do for pilots and or crew. Did you model them in the past and just keep reusing them? Did you Buy a model and if so where. I am finding that because i don't have a good Pilot model it limits me on what views I can do.

I modelled my own and then just change the color of the clothing and helmets to suit the airforce being depicted.

I modelled my pilot in the seated flying position because I don't have clue how to animate stuff.

Sit someone down in a chair & pretend they are holding onto the control column.

Take a photo of them from the front & side to use as modelling reference. It will help get the proportions right.
Good chance you can find a model of head somewhere around on the net which saves modelling that part.

You can model a fairly rough head in about 30 minutes. I think that will suffice for about 99% of all art pieces you ever do

But like Kevin said. Sitting down a friend is a good thing. Do take into account the thickness of the flight clothing though when modelling.

Failing that - how about a DAZ studio figure, posed in the position you want? Then you only have to worry about clothing and textures.

Sometime you only need to have a head and an helmet. (for WWII aircraft for example).
You have software that build a complete body with three click.
makehuman is one of us.

Cheers
